In October, she returned to the Volksbühne repertoire with “The West”; in 2020, the premiere of the work took place there shortly before the first lockdown. Now, at the beginning of December 2021, she will present a new work at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz entitled “The Future”: Constanza Macras, who, along with Florentina Holzinger, is one of the two choreographers with whom Volksbühne veteran and new house director René Pollesch is collaborating; one premiere per season is planned with her. For “The Future”, the choreographer, who always explores a lot of material, together with her company DorkyPark examines the promises and horrors of the future, ancient oracle practices – reading of entrails, astrology, palmistry – as well as contemporary futurology. Philosophers develop what is to come from a critique of the existing system, scientists try to make statements with exact methods, governments seek advice: “Knowledge of the future is power”, says Macras, and is starting into the future at the Volksbühne.    (eph)
