The New Empathies event series situates the body in relation to objects, sounds, emotions as well as concepts and ideas. In which ways can we experience the world compassionately and not (only) intellectually? In the third edition of the format initiated by Matthias Mohr, the artistic director of radialsystem, Brussels based choreographer Radouan Mriziga is invited with his performance “7”. Quoting the Seven Wonders of the World, Mriziga contrasts the moving body with the geometric monumentality of architecture and sculpture. Choreographer Milla Koistinen and musician Paul Valikoski create a situation in which emotionality can be experienced physically in their piece “Constructing Love”. Their prelude to the series Pas de deux by the Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop turns the body into a resonating space for new encounters, both with each other and with the environment. André Uerba’s “Burn Time” is revived, in which a decelerated, changeable space with suggestive powers is created by igniting delicate threads. And last but not least, artist Sandhya Daemgen will invite the audience to a listening party and pay tribute to female musicians who have transcended artistic and social boundaries.
