Ruben Renier, once a member of the ensemble of Amanda Miller / pretty ugly tanz köln, now produces his own works and is also involved in the Berlin dance scene. He is now presenting his latest piece under the label rubarb dance & art, which was founded in 2009 together with the illustrator and paper theater artist Barbara Steinitz. In " Requiem / Mangongkal Holi", the Jakarta-born artist, who grew up in Rotterdam, examines German and Indonesian farewell and funeral rituals. The performance, accompanied by live music, owes its title, among other things, to a traditional ritual series from Indonesia in which the bones of ancestors are dug up and moved to a new, more beautiful place.
