In Club Amour, Boris Charmatz, the new artistic director of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, will be presenting a three-part evening: the Wuppertal ensemble will perform Pina Bausch’s canonical dance piece Café Müller (1978) as well as two choreographies by Boris Charmatz himself: In Aatt enen tionon (1996), three dancers appear lonely and isolated in different rooms of a three-storey scaffolding tower; the duet herses, duo is an excerpt from the piece herses (une lente introduction) (1997) and examines utopias of communities. All three works deal in different ways with sexuality, nudity, intimacy and longing — in this sense they refer to each other and stand for the universal connection between body and desire. (jw)
