The PURPLE – International Dance Festival for Young Audiences, curated by Canan Erek, has emerged as a permanent fixture on the Berlin dance scene. After several delays due to the pandemic, this year’s edition of PURPLE will once again feature a carefully selected program for audiences aged three and up. The festival will open with “EQUALITY!”, presented by Company Lindh & Weingartner from Switzerland. Berlin based choreographer Isabelle Schad will also be featured with her piece “HARVEST”, an imaginative choreography about the sensitive treatment of nature. In “Kalashnikov – mon amour” by Dschungel Wien, young Afghan refugees deal with traditional gender roles. The Vienna based company Potpourri will present house culture of the 80s in “4. A.M.”, while Janine Harrington’s live installation “Screensaver Series“, inspired by screensavers, conveys an almost nostalgic impression. These and other performances will reveal the entire spectrum of contemporary dance for young audiences.
