Traces of yearning for faraway places
Works by Christina Ciupke & Darko Dragičević, Armin Hokmi and Jen Rosenblit at Tanzfabrik
Under the motto Far, Far away, Tanzfabrik presents three productions linked by a loose thematic/conceptual framework as part of the FALTEN / FOLDS format, which has been on the program since autumn 2022: Christina Ciupke and Darko Dragičević, who undertook their artistic research at the height of the tourist season on a typical hotel beach in Mallorca, explore the theme of Take me somewhere nice. In Party without end, without meaning and without purpose, they deal with the consequences of mass tourism and dedicate their performance entirely to the “17th German state”, Mallorca. For his production Shiraz, Armin Hokmi follows in the footsteps of the Shiraz Arts Festival, which took place in the south of Iran from 1967 to 1977 (see also artikel Dance with no Clothes on), and Jen Rosenblit presents ElseWhere Rhapsody, a work that regards itself as an archaeological excavation of the erotic and in which the performers move as a polyphonic choir in a seemingly petrified landscape.
