Meeting for the dance community of Berlin

On the initiative of choreographer Nir de Volff, a meeting from the dance community for the dance community will take place on June 22 and 23. On two evenings artists and dance people shall get a forum in the Uferstudios for exchange, discussion, formulation and positioning. Together with choreographer Lea Moro and other artists, Nir de Volff will moderate the two meetings. In cooperation with the Uferstudios the Tanzbüro Berlin will ensure that all hygiene rules, including regular ventilation, are adhered to and that there is a regulated admission.

Dear dance community,

We see the city going back to normal, dance studios are opening again, step by step life goes on. While our „normal job“ friends went back to work, we are staing behind, trying to keep ourself strong, enjoying summer. We were long time in the lockdown situation, scared for our health and the health of others. We were alone in our rooms, we danced in our private spaces, made cool videos on Facebook searching for a feedback from the outside world, the feedback of others that we love so much, the feedback that makes us go on stage and dance. But right now our near future is blurry, all of us are facing a new challenging phase, with less jobs, no jobs in dance, no creations and much less money in the pocket.

Why do we stay individuals in the big city when we should unit together, showing our power in the city, take care of each other’s emotional complex situation. The city does not think about the psychology effects on us dancers within this artistic financial crisis. Meanwhile our wellbeing is affected, our fears are activated and the thoughts about our near future get deeper. Let‘s admit it, most of us do face a real deep crisis when we think about work and about our creative soul that has no stage. We are survivors.

It’s time to COME TOGETHER RIGHT NOW, share our feelings, talk with each other and find ideas to offer to our politic system.

We need to support each other.
We are smart, sensitive and creative.
We need to meet face to face (with masks) and unit our energy.
