Dance Archive: artist survey, exchange meeting & workshop

Announcement of December 7, 2020 / Launch date: December 16, 2020

The Berlin Dance Archive will consider dance practice and archive practice as two interpenetrating and correlating phenomena that inform each other. Somatic knowledge or knowledge in movement as well as dance-history, data-structure and innovative spatial perspectives will flow into the same lively archive.

The aim is for the conception to be designed and discussed in a collective process on the dance scene, which is why the steering group has launched a qualitative artist survey as a key starting point for their work. The survey can be completed here until the end of the year and we’re looking forward to reading the responses of every participant who takes the time to complete the survey and share their understanding of, and vision for, a dance archive. The steering group will also be reporting on their current work and talking with experts and interest parties during a digital information and exchange meeting on December 16. Please register at tanzarchivnoSpam@tanzbuero-berlin.de. Last but not least a save the date: On January 29, 2021, the steering group will conduct a workshop on the digital requirements for the Tanzarchiv Berlin together with Prof. Bernhard Thull, information science developer of the digital Pina-Bausch Archive. The invitation is open to all. Information on the exact procedure will follow.

Launch date: December 16, 2020, 7–8pm | online via Zoom
