In Between Uncertainty and Optimism
An Exhibition of Works by Jefta van Dinther at HAU
With A Queer Divine Dissatisfaction, HAU is dedicating a major exhibition to choreographer Jefta van Dinther, highlighting key stages in his artistic career. Ranging from metaphysical space to physical immediacy, Van Dinther has repeatedly explored the relationship between people, community, and the environment. The retrospective focuses on Van Dinther's smaller but groundbreaking works—from early studio pieces such as Kneeding (2010) to Dark Field Analysis (2017), which has been touring for eight years, to the premiere of his latest piece, Mercury Rising (2025). Accompanying the exhibition, the listening session Dear Darkness, the curated program of art films, music videos, and performance documentaries The Moving Image, and the discussion format Source & Resource will provide further insights into his work.
