New Transcontinental Festival and Dance Guest Performance from Africa at the Humboldt Forum
The Transkontinentale is a new festival format with international dance, theater and performance guest performances at the Humboldt Forum. In November 2024 - 140 years after the opening of the so-called Congo Conference - the festival will be presenting productions from Cameroon, Mozambique, Congo, Nigeria and Rwanda. The Transcontinental kicks off weeks of exploring artistic and academic voices from Germany's former colonial territories in Africa and continues in December with the dance guest performance Frozen Power by MUDA Africa from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. In Frozen Power, five performers and a live musician guide the audience through a story that relates stories of power struggles, intrigues and lived resistance to German colonial rule in Tanzania.
