Crisis and Resistance
Tanztage Berlin Celebrates its 34th Year
Despite the nail-biting situation caused by the budget crisis and lack of funding, the Tanztage Berlin team has managed to find a way to continue presenting the usual ten works selected from over 200 applications over 17 days — albeit with fewer premieres, no group works and smaller formats than before. This year, four premieres, six revivals and a discourse and workshop program on the topics of scarcity, anti-fascism and the body, as well as burnout, will be presented. The festival aims to confront the Berlin Senate’s austerity measures with a wealth of choreographic perspectives, shared knowledge, care and community — celebrating the dance scene in all its combative fierceness and striving to create a space in which we can gather, join forces and cultivate hope.
