Dance Archive Berlin

Sensing the Archive/s - Sketching the Archive/s | Symposium for the TanzΔrchiv Berlin

New date: 29 April 2022, 11am - 9pm, Kunstquartier Bethanien

The TanzΔrchiv Berlin Project
The Berlin dance scene needs its own historiography! Artistic strategies of passing on knowledge in dance ought to be made visible, networks or archiving need to be strengthened and the exchange and communication on dance history, dance preservation and dance-practical, body-based memory techniques have to to be intensified.

For the substantial development of a contemporary archive concept for dance, a multi-perspective approach serves as the basis of the conception, which includes experts and disciplinary, intersectional and artistic approaches.

TanzΔrchiv Berlin - the Symposium
Based on the results of a collective brainstorming and an exemplary inventory analysis, which describes a first draft for the future TanzΔrchiv Berlin in terms of structure, orientation, and mode of action, the concept for a future TanzArchiv Berlin was further developed in 2021 in dialogue with 11 archive accomplices. The results of this working process will be presented on 29.04.2022 from 11am - 9pm at Kunstquartier Bethanien, Studio 1.

The steering group TanzΔrchiv Berlin invites you to the presentation of the research of the conception phases. Together with archive accomplices from art, science and archives, a lively exchange will take place on questions of archival practice, visibility of the strategies of dance archives and dance archiving, of knowledge transfer and knowledge building, of canon and periphery.

Location: Kunstquartier Bethanien in Berlin Kreuzberg
