The Berlin dance scene is full of knowledge: collectively and inventively, dance makers use the resources available to them. The two-day workshop festival TOOLS FOR SURVIVAL invites you to Uferstudios Berlin on June 21 and 22, 2025, creating a solidary space for exchange, practice, and mutual support.
Berlin-based dance professionals submitted workshop proposals via an open call, which were carefully selected by a jury of board of ZTB e.V. and Tanzbüro Berlin. In a total of 11 workshops, Berlin dance makers will share their knowledge — on production processes, sustainable working practices, funding, artistic strategies, and much more. The festival is aimed at Berlin-based dance professionals and anyone working in or curious about the independent dance scene and its structures. TOOLS FOR SURVIVAL is a collective space for thinking, doing, and mutual empowerment. It shows that knowledge emerging from practice can become the foundation for long-term, structural change within the scene.

Tools for Survival as part of tandem is a module of “Empowering Dance”, a project of Tanzbüro Berlin, supported by Zeitgenössischer Tanz Berlin e.V. The project is funded from 2023-2026 by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion.
