Cultural Conference: Campaign Against Budget Cuts and Cultural Funding Law

Date: October 11, 9am-6pm, Festsaal Abgeordnetenhaus (House of Representatives)

The Cultural Conference, the largest alliance of Berlin's cultural associations with its own legal form, was founded at the end of 2023 with the aim of representing the entire breadth and diversity of Berlin's organised cultural landscape to politicians and the public. The dance sector and its representative bodies are currently in the process of joining. The cultural conference is currently bundling actions and appeals in a cross-sector campaign to prevent the threatened cuts to Berlin's cultural budget. The founding goal of the Cultural Conference is to develop a cultural funding law for Berlin as a counterpart to politics and administration. On 11 October, the Berlin Green Party parliamentary group will dedicate a symposium to the purpose of a cultural funding law: ‘Especially now, in times of a political shift to the right, legal measures are needed in addition to the defence of artistic freedom in order to secure cultural funding and enable artistic diversity.’ The Tanzbüro is taking part in a working session on dance led by Sabine Bangert with an impulse and is looking forward to many dance professionals for a joint discussion.
