The German Artists' Aid programme enables the Federal President to help artists and writers who have contributed to Germany's cultural reputation and who have fallen on hard times through no fault of their own due to old age or illness. The aid can be provided in the form of one-off payments in current emergencies or in the form of long-term support. The one-off payments currently amount to €2,300. In the case of long-term support, the grant amount is currently €7,500 per year (3 payments of €2,500 each).
