About us

Tanzbüro Berlin was set up in 2005 as a central institution for the Berlin dance scene; it is funded by the Senate Office for Cultural Affairs. The Zeitgenössischer Tanz Berlin e. V. (ztb e.V.) is the responsible body.

Tanzbüro was led by Barbara Friedrich and Karin Kirchhoff until 2008; Silvia Schober and Simone Willeit took over at the beginning of 2009. From 2011 on Jana Lüthje works at Tanzbüro, substituting Silvia Schober.

Tanzbüro was envisioned as an information and advice center for those involved in creating dance in Berlin and for those of other cities and regions who are interested.
We are active in creating a network of ideas and resources, and we advocate the improvement of the conditions of production in the Berlin dance scene. It is also our goal to report on the broad and differentiated field of dance, to present important developments, and to deliver useful tips. In collaboration with the ztb e.V. and the TanzRaumBerlin Netzwerk, we developed a website in the summer of 2008 to offer an overview of the Berlin dance world. Since then, TanzRaumBerlin.de has been giving updates on current open calls, jobs, events, workshops and developments in cultural policy in the field of dance. We list useful links to locations for production and rehearsal, opportunities for support and professional training, and we give insight into important projects relevant to dance, which we’ve organized and carried out together with our partner organizations. Our calendar presents a schedule of events at Berlin’s dance venues in order to give some orientation within the plethora of events.

Through TanzRaumBerlin.de we hope to support networking and exchange within the complex and diverse dance scene in Berlin as well as to strengthen communication with the outside world. In order to keep our information as up to date and comprehensive as possible, we are very happy to receive tips and suggestions!
